How we earn money

InternetNetherlands.nl is a comparison and information site. It is not an internet provider and it does not sell a connection.

Plan buttons leave this site through an affiliate link. If you continue from there and take out a plan, we may earn a commission. That commission is paid via the partner. It does not change the published prices in euros, the contract length or the advertised speed, and it does not change how this page sorts plans.

The link is filtered around that plan's download speed. You enter your postcode and house number on the next page.

We check the providers' own websites for these prices, and we keep checking them. USD and GBP are conversions for reading. The provider still charges euros.

Internet Speed in the Netherlands – A Practical Guide

Choosing an internet plan in the Netherlands usually starts with speed, but the right figure depends on how your household actually uses the connection. This guide sets out the advertised download and upload speeds across 65 plans from seven providers. It also explains how connection type and contract length affect what you pay, and why your address shapes the final choice.

Deciding how much speed your household needs

Before comparing plans, think about how many people will be online at once and what they do. Streaming, video calls, gaming and large uploads all draw on your connection at the same time, so a busy household needs more headroom than a single person who mainly browses. Upload speed matters if you work from home, send large files or back up photos to the cloud. Every speed on this page is an advertised maximum set by the provider. It is not a measured national average, and this site does not run a speed test. Your real speed at home may be lower than the advertised figure.

Advertised speeds by connection type

Across all 65 plans, advertised download speeds run from 30 to 8000 Mbit/s, and upload speeds from 3 to 8000 Mbit/s. Fibre plans cover 200 to 8000 Mbit/s and offer the same speed in both directions. Cable connections reach 100 to 2000 Mbit/s for downloads, but uploads only go from 25 to 300 Mbit/s. DSL plans range from 30 to 200 Mbit/s down and 3 to 30 Mbit/s up. The single 5G home internet option advertises 300 Mbit/s down and 30 Mbit/s up.

What faster connections cost each month

Introductory prices across the comparison start at €15 and go up to €51 a month. Average monthly prices, which spread any discount over the whole contract, run from €20 to €57.25. Fibre runs from €20 to €51 introductory and from €28.33 to €57.25 on average. Cable runs from €17.50 to €34.95 introductory and from €26.25 to €47.50 on average. DSL is the cheapest at €15 to €26 introductory and €20 to €33.33 on average. The 5G plan costs €26 on both measures. For a fuller breakdown, see our guide to monthly internet prices.

Contract length and flexibility

Most plans tie you in for a set period. Of the 65 plans, 32 run for twelve months and 32 for twenty-four months. Only one plan runs month to month, and that is the 5G option. Fibre, cable and DSL plans are split evenly between the two longer terms: 15 each for fibre, 9 each for cable and 8 each for DSL. A shorter term suits you if you might move soon. A longer one can bring a lower average monthly price. Always compare the average figure as well as the introductory one before you commit.

Speed depends on where you live

The plans you can get, and the top speed on offer, depend on your postcode and house number. One street may have fibre while the next only has cable or DSL. Some addresses can choose between several networks, while others have just one. Fast speeds are only possible if the right network actually reaches your building. Start from your exact address rather than from a headline figure. Then compare the plans that can genuinely be installed at your home, and weigh speed against price and contract length.

How we put the comparison together

We check prices on the providers' own websites every day, covering Odido, DELTA, KPN, Ziggo, Budget Thuis, hollandsnieuwe and Youfone. You can sort the comparison by download speed, introductory price or average monthly price. We do not name a single best plan, because the right choice depends on your needs and your address. The Check offer button is an advertisement. If you sign up through it, we may earn a commission. That commission never changes the euro price or the sort order.
