How we earn money

InternetNetherlands.nl is a comparison and information site. It is not an internet provider and it does not sell a connection.

Plan buttons leave this site through an affiliate link. If you continue from there and take out a plan, we may earn a commission. That commission is paid via the partner. It does not change the published prices in euros, the contract length or the advertised speed, and it does not change how this page sorts plans.

The link is filtered around that plan's download speed. You enter your postcode and house number on the next page.

We check the providers' own websites for these prices, and we keep checking them. USD and GBP are conversions for reading. The provider still charges euros.

Providers in this comparison

To compare internet providers in the Netherlands, focus on three things: what reaches your address, what you pay over the contract and how long you commit. The plans here come from KPN, Ziggo, Odido, DELTA, Youfone, Budget Thuis and hollandsnieuwe.

Moving here? The expat guide and how to get internet explain the steps before you choose.

Check Internet Availability by Postcode

When you click Check offer, which is an advertisement, you continue to a page where you enter your exact address and see which plans can reach your home. We take the prices from the providers' own websites, and we keep checking them. Prices are charged in euros. Any USD or GBP figure is only an approximate conversion.

If you take out a plan, InternetNetherlands.nl may earn a commission. The euro price stays the same. See how we earn.

Compare Plans by Price, Speed and Contract

Introductory prices run from €15 to €51 a month, and published average monthly prices run from €20 to €57.25. Advertised download speeds range from 30 to 8,000 Mbps, and upload speeds from 3 to 8,000 Mbps. These are advertised maxima, not measured speeds, and there is no speed test here.

Of the 65 plans, 32 run for 12 months, 32 for 24 months and one for a single month. The speed guide helps you decide how much speed you need.

Best Internet Providers in the Netherlands

There is no single best internet provider in the Netherlands for everyone, because the right choice depends on what reaches your address and how you use the connection. A household that streams and works from home may value upload speed, while someone living alone may care most about a low monthly price.

Compare the average monthly price, the contract length and the connection type side by side. If you already have a contract, the switching guide covers the steps.

KPN Internet

10 plans · intro €22–€35 · up to 4,000 Mbps advertised

KPN has 10 plans here, covering fibre and DSL, with introductory prices from €22 to €35 a month. Whether you get fibre or DSL depends on the line at your address, so the same provider can offer quite different speeds from one street to the next.

Look at the average monthly price as well as the introductory one, and check the contract length before you commit. Ask KPN directly if you need English-language support.

Ziggo Internet

8 plans · intro €20.98–€34.95 · up to 2,000 Mbps advertised

Ziggo has 8 plans here, all on cable, with introductory prices from €20.98 to €34.95 a month. Cable runs over the coaxial network, so whether you can order it depends on whether your building is connected.

If you want television as well, read the internet and TV guide and confirm what Ziggo offers at your address, because bundles are not compared here. For more on the technology, see cable internet.

Odido Internet

11 plans · intro €25–€51 · up to 8,000 Mbps advertised

Odido has 11 plans here across fibre, DSL and one 5G plan, with introductory prices from €25 to €51 a month. The 5G plan is the only 1-month contract in the comparison: 300 Mbps down, 30 Mbps up, €26 introductory and €26 average.

That short term can suit you if you are staying briefly or waiting for a fixed line. The temporary internet guide explains the trade-offs.

Other Dutch Internet Providers

DELTA has 12 fibre and cable plans, from €30 to €45 introductory. Youfone has 6 fibre and DSL plans, from €15 to €21.25, and Budget Thuis has 14 fibre and DSL plans, from €18.50 to €36. hollandsnieuwe has 4 cable plans, from €17.50 to €22.50.

Online.nl, Freedom Internet and Solcon have their own pages, with prices taken from their websites. Those prices are not in this sortable comparison.

Cheap Internet in the Netherlands – Prices and Deals

If you want cheap internet in the Netherlands, the lowest introductory price here is Youfone DSL at €15 a month for 50 Mbps down and 8 Mbps up. The 12-month version averages €20 a month and the 24-month version averages €21.25. A Youfone DSL 100/10 plan starts at €16.25.

None of these plans is free, and public Wi-Fi is not a home subscription. The cheap internet guide and internet-only plans help you keep costs down.

What Does Home Internet Cost?

Home internet in the Netherlands costs between €20 and €57.25 a month across these plans, based on the published average over the contract. Introductory prices start lower, from €15 to €51, so the first months can look cheaper than the contract as a whole.

The connection type, the speed tier and the contract length all affect the price. Compare averages rather than headline offers, and read the internet cost guide before you decide.

Compare Introductory Offers and First-Year Costs

The average monthly price is the published average over the contract. It is not a calculated 12-month total, and no plan here states a separate first-year sum or a setup fee. The one exception is the Odido 5G plan, whose description mentions a connection offer. Confirm the details with Odido.

To judge your first year, ask the provider for the full cost at your address before you sign, including any one-off charges.

Home Internet in the Netherlands – Fibre, Cable, DSL and 5G

Internet in the Netherlands reaches homes through four connection types in this comparison: 30 fibre plans, 18 cable, 16 DSL and one 5G. Which of these you can order depends on the lines at your exact address, not on your city.

Fibre uses glass fibre, cable runs over the coaxial TV network, DSL uses the telephone line and 5G uses the mobile network. The provider books your installation appointment once your address is confirmed.

A tick means that provider has at least one published plan of that type in this comparison. It is not a map of which streets can get it. The address still decides.

Ziggo and hollandsnieuwe appear with cable only. DELTA appears with fibre and cable. KPN, Youfone and Budget Thuis appear with fibre and DSL. Odido appears with fibre, DSL and the only 5G home plan in this comparison. The fastest advertised download here is 8,000 Mbps on fibre, 2,000 Mbps on cable, 200 Mbps on DSL and 300 Mbps on 5G. Online.nl, Freedom Internet and Solcon have profile pages, and this check has no priced plans for them, so they are not marked in the table.

Fibre Internet

Fibre makes up 30 of the 65 plans and comes from five of the seven providers here, including KPN and DELTA. Fibre carries data into your home over glass fibre. Upload speed matters if you make video calls, back up files or send large uploads, so compare it as well as download speed.

Fibre is only an option if your address has a fibre connection. Read the fibre internet guide for more detail.

Cable Internet

There are 18 cable plans here, from Ziggo, DELTA and hollandsnieuwe. Cable runs over the coaxial network that has traditionally carried television, so your building needs that connection.

hollandsnieuwe offers cable from €17.50 introductory, and Ziggo from €20.98. Compare the average monthly price and the contract length, not just the opening price. The cable internet guide explains how cable compares with the other connection types.

DSL and 5G Home Internet

There are 16 DSL plans here, from KPN, Odido, Youfone and Budget Thuis. DSL uses the telephone line, and its speed depends on the line at your address. See the DSL guide.

The single 5G plan is from Odido: 300 Mbps down, 30 Mbps up and €26 a month on a 1-month contract. The 5G home internet guide explains when it fits.

How Fast Is Internet in the Netherlands?

Internet in the Netherlands can be very fast, but the speed you can order depends on the line at your address. Across the 65 plans compared here, advertised download speeds run from 30 to 8,000 Mbps and advertised upload from 3 to 8,000 Mbps.

These are the maximum speeds that internet providers in the Netherlands advertise. They are not measured results. Fibre carries the top speeds, and cable and DSL sit lower. See our fibre guide.

Average Internet Speeds

This site does not give a national average speed. It has no speed test, and advertised figures are not measurements. You can compare the advertised maximum on each plan. Of the 65 plans, 30 use fibre, 18 use cable, 16 use DSL and 1 uses 5G.

Your real speed depends on the connection type, the wiring in your home and your Wi-Fi. Compare cable and DSL before you decide.

How Much Internet Speed Do You Need?

For browsing, email and one video stream, a modest DSL plan such as 50 Mbps down and 8 Mbps up can be enough. A busy household with several people streaming, gaming or working from home will notice the difference on a faster line.

Video calls and cloud backups depend on upload as much as download. Start with what you use today and add some headroom. Our speed guide explains the trade-offs.

How to Choose the Best Internet Provider

No single provider is the best internet provider in the Netherlands for everyone. The right plan is one that is available at your address and has the speed, contract and price you need. The priced plans here come from KPN, Ziggo, Odido, DELTA, Youfone, Budget Thuis and hollandsnieuwe.

Introductory prices run from €15 to €51 a month. Published average monthly prices run from €20 to €57.25. Read more in our cost guide.

Availability at Your Address

Home internet in the Netherlands is sold address by address. Two flats on the same street can have different fibre, cable or DSL options. A plan is confirmed for your home when you enter your address after using Check offer.

See how to get internet for what to confirm before you order.

Speed, Reliability and Latency

The plan prices do not show reliability or latency, and this site does not measure either. In general, fibre and cable are fixed lines with steadier latency than 5G. A 5G connection can vary with the signal and the load on the network. DSL speed usually drops the further you are from the exchange.

If gaming or video calls matter to you, ask the provider what to expect at your address. Compare 5G home internet with fixed lines.

Contract Length and Cancellation Terms

Of the 65 plans, 32 run for 12 months, 32 run for 24 months and one runs for a single month. The term can change the cost. Youfone DSL 50/8 starts at €15 a month, with a published average of €20 on 12 months and €21.25 on 24 months. That average is the published figure over the contract, not a calculated 12-month total.

Each provider sets its own cancellation terms. If you are leaving another contract, read our switching guide.

Customer Support in English

English-language customer support is not verified here, and this site does not claim that any provider offers it. If you need help in English, ask the provider before you order. Check whether the phone line, chat, contract and installation appointment are available in English.

If it matters to you, get the answer in writing. Our expat guide suggests other questions to ask before you sign.

What Do Reddit Users Say About Internet Providers in the Netherlands?

Reddit threads such as Best ISP in NL and best home internet provider show how varied experiences are. The comments disagree. A provider that one person praises, another criticises, and many replies depend on where the writer lives.

Treat these comments as anecdotes, not a verdict. Your address matters more than any single thread.

KPN, Ziggo, Odido and Delta – Mixed User Experiences

KPN, Ziggo, Odido and DELTA come up often in threads like this discussion, with both praise and complaints.

On this site, KPN has 10 fibre and DSL plans from €22 to €35 introductory. Ziggo has 8 cable plans from €20.98 to €34.95. Odido has 11 fibre, DSL and 5G plans from €25 to €51. DELTA has 12 fibre and cable plans from €30 to €45.

Why Address, Pricing and Connection Type Matter More Than One Review

One review cannot tell you whether a provider suits you. Your address decides which lines exist, the connection type shapes speed and stability, and the price depends on the plan and the contract term. A bad experience on an old DSL line says little about fibre elsewhere.

For cheap internet in the Netherlands, Youfone starts at €15, hollandsnieuwe at €17.50 and Budget Thuis at €18.50. See our cheap internet guide.

Internet for Expats in the Netherlands

If you are new to the country, start with your exact address and your move-in date. When you compare internet providers in the Netherlands, look only at plans that can reach that address. Then check the contract length.

Ask the provider about payment methods and English-language help, because neither is verified here. Prices are in euros, and the provider charges you in euros. Our expat guide covers the questions to ask.

Do You Need Your Own Internet Subscription?

Not always. Some rented homes and student rooms include internet in the rent, so ask your landlord first. Public Wi-Fi in cafés or libraries is not a home subscription, and none of the plans here is free.

If you only need a connection, see internet-only plans. If you also want television, our internet and TV guide explains how to check what each provider offers.

How to Set Up Internet in Your New Home

Choose a plan that is available at your address, then place your order. Once your address is confirmed, the provider gives you an installation or activation appointment. This site does not say how long that takes, so order early if you have a fixed move-in date.

If you choose fibre, find out where the connection point is in your home. Our set-up guide takes you through each step.

Temporary Internet and Flexible Contracts

If you are staying only a short time, contract length matters more than headline speed. The only 1-month plan here is Odido 5G, at 300 Mbps down and 30 Mbps up. It costs €26 introductory and €26 on average. Odido mentions a connection offer for this plan, so check the terms with Odido.

A 5G connection depends on the mobile signal at your address. See our temporary internet guide.

Internet-Only, Internet and TV, or Mobile Bundles?

The prices compared here are for home internet in the Netherlands on its own. You can see what the connection costs before you decide whether to add anything.

If you also want television or a mobile deal, treat that as a separate decision and check the terms with the provider. Bundle prices are not shown here. Start with the connection type available at your address, then decide what else you need. Our internet-only guide is a good first step.

Internet-Only Packages

The 65 plans here come from 7 internet providers: KPN, Ziggo, Odido, DELTA, Youfone, Budget Thuis and hollandsnieuwe. Introductory prices run from €15 to €51 a month. Published average monthly prices run from €20 to €57.25.

Advertised download speeds range from 30 to 8,000 Mbps. Compare plans on speed and on the average price, not just the opening rate.

Internet and TV Packages

If television matters to you, ask the provider what it offers with internet at your address. Also ask for the total monthly cost over the full contract.

TV packages and their prices are not compared on this page, so we cannot tell you which provider bundles what. Our internet and TV guide explains what to ask. Compare any bundle with the internet-only price, so you can see what the extras actually cost you.

Combine Home Internet and SIM Only

Some households like having home internet and a mobile SIM with the same company. Whether that saves you money depends on the provider's current terms. Those terms are not listed here, so check them before you sign.

A simple test is to add the home internet price you would pay anyway to the SIM only price. Then compare that total with the combined offer over the same contract length. If a saving lasts only a few months, factor that in.

Internet-only plansInternet and TV

Switching or Cancelling Your Internet Provider

Before you switch, check when your current contract ends and what notice period applies. In this comparison, 32 plans run for 12 months and 32 for 24 months, so the term you choose now affects how easily you can move later.

If you are moving house, confirm what is available at the new address first. Internet in the Netherlands can vary from one street to the next. Our switching guide covers the steps.

How to Switch Internet Providers

Use Check offer to enter your address and see which connections are available. Compare the published average monthly price over the contract, not only the introductory rate.

Once you choose, the new provider confirms your address and gives you an installation appointment. Keep your old service running until the new one works. Then cancel under the terms of your current contract. Our guide to getting internet walks you through each stage.

Cancelling a Contract Early or When Moving

Cancelling a fixed-term contract early may involve costs set by your provider. Read your contract or ask the provider before you give notice.

Moving house is a common reason to change, but your current provider may not serve your new address. Check availability there first. If you only need a connection for a short time, our temporary internet guide explains the shorter options, including the single 1-month plan in this comparison.

Frequently Asked Questions About Internet in the Netherlands

Which Internet Providers Are Available at My Address?

Availability depends on your exact address, not just your city or postcode area. A fibre line may reach one street and not the next, and cable and DSL coverage varies in the same way.

Select Check offer, then enter your address on the next page to see the plans that can actually be delivered. Compare fibre, cable and DSL results on the same basis.

What Is the Cheapest Internet Provider in the Netherlands?

The lowest introductory price here is a Youfone DSL plan at €15 a month, with 50 Mbps down and 8 Mbps up. The 12-month version has a published average of €20 a month and the 24-month version €21.25. A Youfone DSL 100/10 plan starts at €16.25.

The average is published over the contract. It is not a calculated 12-month total, so use it as a guide to first-year cost. See our cheap internet guide and cost guide.

Which Internet Provider Is Best for Expats?

There is no single best internet provider for expats in the Netherlands. The right choice depends on what reaches your address and how long you plan to stay. English-language support is not verified here, so ask the provider before you sign.

If your stay may be short, think carefully about contract length. Our internet for expats guide covers what to check, so you can compare internet providers once you have an address.

How Long Does Internet Installation Take?

The provider gives you an installation appointment once it has confirmed your address and connection type. The timing is set by the provider, not by this site, and it varies, so we do not give a typical number of days.

Ask for the appointment date when you order. If you are moving, order as early as your new address allows. If you need to be online sooner, look at 5G home internet.

Can I Get Internet Without a Long-Term Contract?

Yes, but the choice is narrow. Of the 65 plans compared, only one runs for 1 month. It is an Odido 5G plan with 300 Mbps down and 30 Mbps up, at €26 introductory and €26 average a month. Every other plan runs for 12 or 24 months.

How well 5G works depends on your address, so check before you rely on it. Our temporary internet guide explains the trade-offs.

Is Free Home Internet Available in the Netherlands?

No. Public Wi-Fi in cafés, libraries and stations is useful, but it is not a home subscription and it is not always private or reliable. None of the plans compared here is free.

If budget is your main concern, compare the published average monthly price, which runs from €20 to €57.25, with the speed you need. Our speed guide helps you avoid paying for more than you use.

How We Compare Internet Providers

We compare 65 plans from 7 providers: 30 fibre, 18 cable, 16 DSL and one 5G plan. We check these prices on the providers' own websites every day. Providers charge in euros, and any USD or GBP figures are conversions for guidance only. Speeds are advertised maxima, not measurements.

The list can be sorted by download speed, introductory price or average monthly price. If you take out a plan after using Check offer, we may earn a commission. That commission does not change the euro price, the contract or the sort order. See how we earn.

  • We check the prices on the providers' own websites every day.
  • You can sort by download speed, introductory price or average monthly price. A commission does not change that order.
  • Check offer is an advertisement. The address is entered on the next page. If you sign up, we may earn a commission, and the euro price stays the same.
  • USD and GBP are converted from the euro amount. The provider still charges euros.
