What to sort out before you arrive
When you move to the Netherlands, getting a home connection is usually one of the first practical jobs. The main decision is which provider and plan fit your budget, the speed you need and how long you expect to stay. Our guide on setting up a connection after moving explains the steps. If your stay is short or your housing is not settled yet, a flexible option may suit you better, and you can read more about short-term internet options. This page sets out the figures across all plans so you can weigh them calmly.
Prices and speeds across the plans
We compare 65 plans from 7 providers: Odido, DELTA, KPN, Ziggo, Budget Thuis, hollandsnieuwe and Youfone. Introductory prices run from €15 to €51 a month, while the average monthly price over the contract ranges from €20 to €57.25. Download speeds start at 30 Mbit/s and reach 8000 Mbit/s, and upload speeds range from 3 Mbit/s to 8000 Mbit/s. The highest upload speeds are typically found on fibre connections, while those watching their budget can look at low-cost internet plans. It is worth comparing the average monthly price, not only the introductory one.

How long you will be tied in
Of the 65 plans, 32 run for 12 months and 32 run for 24 months. Only 1 plan has a one-month term: an Odido plan at €26 a month, both introductory and on average, with 300 Mbit/s download and 30 Mbit/s upload. For newcomers who are unsure how long they will stay, a shorter term reduces the risk of paying for a connection you no longer need. A longer term may come with a different average price, so check the figures for each plan before choosing. You can also look at 5G internet at home as an alternative.
Your new address decides what is available
Not every connection reaches every home. Whether you can get fibre, cable or DSL, and at what speed, depends on your exact address, including your postcode and house number. Two flats on the same street can have different options. Once you have your rental or purchase address, enter it to see which plans from these providers can actually be delivered there. This matters especially for expats signing a lease before arrival, as the available speeds may differ from what you had in your previous country, and planning early avoids surprises on moving day.
How we compare the plans
We check prices on the providers' own websites every day, so the figures reflect what they currently advertise. The sortable comparison on internet providers netherlands can be ordered by download speed, introductory price or average monthly price, letting you put your own priority first. The Check offer button is an advertisement: if you sign up through it, we may earn a commission. That commission does not change the euro price you pay or the order in which plans appear. We do not name a single best plan, because the right choice depends on your address, budget and length of stay.
